Now that my crane is back in service, I decided to re arrange the truck, Kind od a continiation of this thread http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=270521Just doing a little here and there between jobs. I almost like this truck, I will be happy when the Cummins goes in and I find a donor truck with A/CDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Next on the list is to paint the Trailblazer, compressor and crane, get rid of that useless grating covered compartment and mount a box I have there. So much to do and so little time.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Good move putting the welder down low..Not so top heavy anymore...I don't think you will ever be happy with that no matter what engine you put in..These guys out back are catching fish left and right this afternoon......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I think your truck is bad *** Tozzi!! Looks like u will have less drag now with the machine mounted low. I'm constantly doing the same stuff with my rig. Moving welder and bottles and trying it out. I recently got a set lead reels and I love em.
Reply:Yep paint the trailblazer red and put a couple Lincoln stickers on it.  Watch Miller fanboys have a heart attack . Then tell them it welds better painted red! Reply:Looks Good!  But man those trucks take a beating up there in the salt.  And a big WTF!!!! No AC? I would do without alot before I would do without out AC. That would be my first upgrade.

Reply:Originally Posted by TozziWeldingI got a full 96 F600 rolling chassis with 86k on it, heavy axles, 5 speed and the 12v Cummins. To bad the donor truck is only a 60" cab to axle, I need 84 for my body.
Reply:Originally Posted by Stick-manWhy don't you just stretch the donor? I think it would be easier than putting a Cummins in the chebby. And if you don't feel comfortable doing the welds, I guess I can come out and make them for you!

Reply:would think it would be minimal work if you left the ford mechanicals and accessories intact. no dealing with wiring harnesses and such.

Reply:Gonna have A/C and a nice interior, found a donor for those parts. Putting the engine, tranny, front and 2 speed rear from the F600 in my truck. I looked at the donor today, my heavy Chevy frame is beefier.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."My new powertrain, not much to look at now, give me some time.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Curious if they oversized or used repair sleeves on that?Bruce

Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749I couldn't even imagine living down there with no AC. It's bad enough here. I was dying when we were down there in August last year. At least I have it in my little Cavalier. The blazer's air hasn't worked for a long time. I ditched the 2500HD Chevy I had right after my separation. The payment was killing me. That's fine tho, the blazer works just fine, much like Tozzis truck, but with much less cool stuff on it. If I ever get my trailer back together, I'll be all set

Reply:Rig looks good Tozzi. As much as I think a Cummins in that GM would be awesome, in the day it used to take me 5 hours to stretch those Fords for recovery bodies and rollbacks.  That of course was using all the pieces provided by the recovery body/rollback manufacturer to do the job but still did one a night after work.Chevies took about 12 hours due to having to deal with the stepped frame and how/where they needed to be cut.  Also had to make my own crossmember to hang the additional carrier bearing needed to stretch the driveline and extend the exhaust - none of which was that big a deal.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
