This is an ongoing project that is actually close to being done! The offsets and backing plate is 3/4" steel with the plates that the forks attach to are 1/2".The support blocks for the backing plate are1/2" while the retainer bars are 3/8" doubled.I need to go back at this thing to finish out a few welds, then clean it up for paint! Reply:You need some holes in your back plate so you can see the forks when they are higher. You also need a grill that is taller than your back plate so nothing comes over the back. it looks very good though.
Reply:I agree with bobIDE go with expanded metal back shield and indicator or something to tell exactly were the forks are.Other then that looks greatPROUD   AMERICAN
Reply:OK, Thanks!I did think a little about the guard on the back. One of those things where I need to come up with material and design.
Reply:Square tube or flat bar turned on edge would make a good back stop. Depends on what you are using them for. if just pallets not so important. logs or hay bales more important and need to be stout. saw many a muffler and hood on tractors taken out buy stuff rolling down the loaderMillermatic 252millermatic 175miller 300 Thunderboltlincoln ranger 250smith torcheslots of bfh'sIf it dont fit get a bigger hammer
