Any of you guys used it? Is it worth the money? Having a hard time finding some reviews on it.
Reply:Do you need that much DC amperage? I'm sure its a nice machine, but for the money I would upgrade to the Dynasty with AC/DC.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG

My Dynasty 350 cost me $5300.Unless you specifically need a compact inverter style power source, it's just a glorified DC TIG machine. Pulsing and sequence programs are the only thing extra you're getting when compared to a basic DC TIG. That and it's ability to produce a high amount of output current with very low input power demands. What exactly is your application and input power availability? One of the only reasons I bought the 350 was for its high output to low input capabilities. I'm not a TIG guru, nor a big aluminum guy. At the same time, that machine will put out 350 amps on a 43 amp circuit at 230 VAC single phase input power. It replaced a Syncrowave 250 DX. Some more details would aid in assisting you. Unless you had a very specific need for it, I would look at something AC/DC. A place I do a lot of repair work for has two Maxstar 350 machines. They do a lot of stainless welding, and almost 98% of everything they do is DC current application. They bought them for their size and ability to be able to quickly move them around when needed. One is on a semi automated station, the other in a manual welding setting where the work is done in a jig but by hand. It's very similar to the Dynasty 350 as far as operation goes. My thoughts would be to pass on it unless you have a very specific need for that type of machine. That or save your coin for the Dynasty (if a Miller inverter is what you want)IMHO of course
Reply:The Maxstars don't pull nearly as much money as the Dynasty models do on the used market.  For the 200 series machine, you'd be lucky to get 1/2 of what a Dynasty would cost. The 350 Maxstar is kind of an odd duck.  You don't many period.  I recall, the power supply is over 100lbs - so not really portable.  Not a lot of people DC TIG with that many Amps (MIG or stick when it gets that thick).   On top of that, there are enough generational changes (does it have blue lightning?) that seriously influence the price.I'd rather have a Syncrowave 250 (used of course).  Remember that the 250 could actually draw closer to 100Amps (when welding on AC and trying to break the arc) and also weighs in closer to 500lbs.  If you are going to buy a tank, might as well be the Cadillac of tanks.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
