This is for the first time with any torch cutting and only some lacking videos on the web to go off of. I was going off of http://www.harrisproductsgroup.com/~...SonCUTTING.pdf that tip chart. I was using a BBQ tank and the harris 85 with screw on cutting head... and apparently the wrong tip and pressures  I was looking at the machine cutting tip chart.... 0/4 VVC tip for 1/4 plate... and I guess I have machine propane cutting tips, not hand cutting tips. How big a mistake was this? I defiantly got some bad cuts,  pops and some other weird (or so I thought at the time) stuff. Which I thought wasn't supposed to happen as much with oxy/propane. Can I get away with using these tips or should I try and swap them for handheld tips? Also does anyone have a link or know off the top of their head a run through of basic operation of Harris oxy/propane, in case I am missing something?
Reply:Opps wrong section, is there a way I can delete or move this?
Reply:How do you figure its in the wrong section?Anyways, I didn't have time to find a picture of the tip you are using but did look at the PDF chart real quick. I didn't understand the low preheat temperature pressure that was listed? On a true propane/oxygen cutting tip, the higher pressures they listed should have worked for you.I have mine set around 6 or 7 and 25'ish. The flame should be a small circle from the preheat ports arounfd the outside approximately 1/8" long(?) When you squeeze the Oxy handle, it should shorten them slightly and give the "Jet" flame out of the center. Its funny as to how hard it is to describe something that you look at all the time but do not pay attention to!
Reply:This very forum has some fine torch cutting videos. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=63275Download them (so you can replay them for study) using Firefox with this add-on:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ownloadhelper/I use vlc to play .flv files.http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Reply:This is a great topic and why I came here. I need to know how to determine if I have a neutral flame with oxy propane.  It's hard to tell.  I'll ask in my own thread though.
