After a lot of thinking it seems like it's going to be in my best interest to go with a Dynasty 200dx over a Syncrowave 200/250 due to space limitations as well as the wide range of power options. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a 20 year old Syncrowave since their reliability is proven but I'm not sure if I can expect the same from a Dynasty. I'm debating as to whether it's a stupid move to purchase a used unit. I don't see too many used ones for sale, but I've seen a few pop up on eBay and Craigslist for a little bit cheaper than a new one. Since they are relatively new, how reliable have these been? How many people have had to take advantage of the warranty or had problems? It seems like paying for repairs out of pocket could get expensive since the unit is basically a computer.
Reply:I haven't seen all theat many used dx200's either. For me it would all depend on price. I would not take a used unit at $200-300 less than new. Start pushing 1K and I might think about it. I also don't have enough tig time under my belt to really try out the machine to be sure all the fancy functions work. I would definately want to try it before I would buy it or want a garuntee that they would take it back if there were problems. As far as reliability I don't have alot of exp with the 200dx. The Dynasty 350's at the school seem to be holding up well under the abuse of the kids. They usually kill at least one machine a week, but I haven't seen a Dynasty down yet, although they are rather new, bought end of last year. |
