posted on Pirate4x4:This guy is selling a pice of paper .. just a listIt is not that obvious on the plasma cutters wording but check " seller other items"example from the Ice Auger in his other sellers Items..You are bidding on an intangeable item. You are not bidding on the item in the picture. The picture is a display of an item you can purchase from the wholesale list. you are bidding on a wholesale list.http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-Spectr...QQcmdZViewItemhttp://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-Therma...QQcmdZViewItemBuyer beware
Reply:People are trying to get away with this all of the time.  You are bidding on a picture, list or something, instead of the actual product. I saw a case on Judge Judy just the other day where a lady thought she was buying a cell phone, and got a picture. The seller was local and so the buyer sued the lady and won.  What are the chances of that happening when they are in another state?  Buyer Beware on Ebay.  I've been buying and selling on Ebay for about 7 years now and never have been ripped off (knock on wood), but it can and does happen.  Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
Reply:Dang!  Someone paid $1300 for a list?????  That is gonna hurt bigtime when he finds out that he just bought a list.
Reply:I found a couple actions the other night for some welders. They were doing whats called fishing. They provide their email, ussualy something easy to get, hotmail, yahoo. If you email them they will tell you they will sell you the item at a very low cost. Then they send you a fake ebay login and payment page where they steel your paypal info.I turned it in and the auction was removed within an hour. Its sad the amount of people that fall for that stuff and get taken.Patriot Performance AutoLincoln Power Mig 255CLincoln AC-225 StickVictor Journeyman O/AQuincy QT-5 Compressor

Reply:Seems like you have to be more careful every day about reading the fine print on e-bay. I thought I was buying a coil over plug for my f-150 last week and it ended up being a coil over plug connector. Turned out the listing said coil over plug like twenty times and coil over plug connector only once, really small.
Reply:someone didn't read add very well  I just cut and pasted this from the links you posted this is the heading on the page its very clear its for a list and not the cutter    Brand New Spectrum 2050 Plasma Cutter wholesale list   Brand New Thermal Dynamics Plasma Cutter wholesale listyou have to be careful nowdays on ebay do your home work first when you look at his other item's it clearly states wholesale list's I'm not sticking up for the seller just saying it as i see I have been using ebay for a long time now and first thing I allways do is read the sellers feedback to get an idea of what there like Last edited by wello; 02-09-2007 at 06:04 AM.Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
Reply:First: It says LIST right in the tittle!Second: There are people selling legitimate wholesale lists on Ebay all the time. (Not that I think this is one of them) I know people who make their living off of Ebay that have bought wholesale lists. They actually serve a purpose. This guy does seem a little under-handed thought.Patrick
Reply:[QUOTE=wello]   Brand New Spectrum 2050 Plasma Cutter wholesale list   Brand New Thermal Dynamics Plasma Cutter wholesale listQUOTE]Well, maybe it's just me, but that could be interpreted (and this was probably the scammers, er...sellers intent) as a wholesale list price. Who the hell needs a wholesale list of "Brand New Spectrum 2050 Plasma Cutters," especially off of eBay???Dave
Reply:What is the point of a whosesale list?  I bought a edelbrock performer intake from ebay once and never got it.  The seller and I had words through email and would never answer his phone so I could give him a piece of my mind.  I did file a claim and got back all but $40.  I don't buy unless the seller has a good rating.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:The legitimate wholesale lists are for BUSINESSES or people who are making a living on Ebay. The two that I have seen involved computer components some friends of mine sell.  They import the merchandise themselves in large quantities and sell at a profit. It takes a considerable amount of leg work to develop the contacts and business relationships to do this.....Would you know who to call in china to arrange the import of a hundred computer motherboards?Probably not.....You could do the research yourself and develop these English speaking overseas contacts, or you could just buy a list of contacts from someone who has already done the leg-work.Some times it makes sense to do the research yourself and sometimes it makes sense to buy the list. But these lists are NOT MEANT FOR THE AVERAGE CONSUMER.Patrick

Reply:well it seems if you jumped in and bid with out reading the whole thing its called bad luck as it says this lower on the page Please Note...Note: You are NOT bidding on the item in the picture! It is just an example of one of the many products you can buy with this list. if it looks too good to be true then beware and read the whole lot I can't see too much of a con job in that add if you read the whole thing its call buyer beware Creative metal Creative metal Facebook

Reply:Two things. 1st. If it's just a list then it should be in a "LIST" section of ebay, not among items of different categorys (over and over and over again)  2nd. When these people get cought scamming like this someone should cut their nuts off. Ebay has gone straight to hell over the last couple of years, I've found that most of the time I could buy somthing new or used (local for the same price adding in shipping and handling).Sorry for being so direct.

Reply:ya gotta read it well before you bid
Reply:I watched two bidders flog each other the other night on just that exact same thing. The ad DID say it was for a list of the manufacturers but these two guys got into the bidding war and one of them eventually won the thing at $278! A few months ago you could have emailed the bidders to warn them but EBay recently removed the bidder info and now you just see Bidder #1, Bidder #2, Bidder #3, etc. They did that for the buyer's protection and to thwart scams, but in this case, it worked against the public. I guess they saw "Plasma Cutter" and the price around $125 with 26 minutes left and they went to clickin! They should have read the not even fine print!
