Dominoes and Nameplates..........

I have gone back and forth about posting more of the same........It probably gets old.... but yet again..... I did eat meatball subs for 2 years straight when i worked at the GAP at the mall back in the early 90's......... So I have a habit of doing the same thing A LOT before I get sick of it.........First.... A name plate for another co-worker... her last name........ charged 50 bucks for it....... took 4 total hours.....The R's must match.... the S must be the right height and look right............ I had 1 bending mistake that is now in the scrap bin........ Second..... Stainless dominoes........ Took about 80 hours............. not worth it........ but... Reply:And the polished set of Double Six Dominoes.....Flapped with 120 grit...... then polished........At first I was happy with them..... now I am disappointed in the non-perfect shine.........  mostly because I haven't figured out how to get finer than 120 grit yet......... with the tools I have.......Live and learn......PICS..... Reply:Second that. I think they're imperfectly beautiful  The great thing about steel I think is that it's alot like horse equipment; the hours you spend moving your work toward perfection also works wonders on your soul and mind.
Reply:use 400 grit 600 800 1000 1200 1500 2000 progressively.  take a plate of glass and lots of water and sand away.  the sandpaper will stick to the glass when wet and keep it wet to keep floating off the shavings.  you can do three of four at a time and be done in no time.

Reply:How do you sell this stuff so cheap? You probably have what 8+ hours into the candy cane alone and only selling for $25? And the stainless steel cross for cheap too. I can't touch scrap stainless around here for that much. I spent a lot of time on them....... those are a little more pricey.....I'm working on a 1/2" set of Stainless now...... those will hopefully fetch about $120 or $130 when I'm done......Right now it's all in the name of fun.........Eventually it will turn into a "for profit" thing...... but for now......
