Well, since I upgraded my JD2 model 32 bender to Hydraulics six months ago, I no longer needed it to be permanently bolted to the floor. Plus, I was getting tired of my Tube notcher taking up valuable space in my one and only bench mounted vise. I plan on making a bracket of some sort to hold the notcher. Along with several shelves and/or drawers to hold hole saws and/or other odd ball tools I may need. Plus, I will be adding some sort of stud holder for storing additional bending dies not being used. I'm currently sporting 1-1/2" and 1-3/4" round tube dies Attached ImagesScooterLincoln Weld-pak 155 - .030 Solid wire & 75/25 gas mixMiller Thunderbolt 225Hypertherm PM 85Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 38Gas ax with rose bud attachment
Reply:Like it BUT the caster are way undersized and I may have gone with all 4 swivel casters. Those caster are going to explode with any more weight.Donnelly Small Engine & WeldingFoley AlabamaLincoln 225 TigLinoln 215 migHypertherm Powermax 65Ellis 1600 sawEllis 6000 belt grinderJD2 Model 4 tubing benderAtlas  12"X54" metal latheLots of large hammers
Reply:Thank you for the input. They were all I had at the moment, which was left over from another project that I helped a friend with. I will upgrade them as time goes on, when I add more dies to my collection, or sooner if they explode. Not sure about swivel casters on all four corners though. Something for me to ponder on. Home Depot had a piss poor selection of wheels and casters when I was there a couple days ago picking something else up.After a few hour break for lunch, I added a few die holders. Not exactly sure how I'm going to mount the hydraulic pump yet. Might use a receiver slide out of some sort. Reply:I have many HF benders and made up a table for them on wheels. They all have their spot and all can be used where they are. I only put one bolt in each bender (besides the brake) so they can be swiveled around. Has been working excellent!
Reply:I would mount the bender vertical..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/

Reply:Thanks for the input. I personally haven't found a need for the other styles of benders that VPT posted, yet. But that is pretty slick though. Most all my tools have been purchased in stages, mostly for when the need arises or when money isn't so funny. The bending brake is one tool I sure could use at the moment for other projects. I have thought about mounting my tube bender vertically. But, I didn't have the material on hand. Or a way to transport new material to my shop space. Working on a budget with what little material I had on hand is what got me to this point. I had just enough 2x2" square tube on hand(roughly 28 feet) to build this. Out of curiosity, what is the advantage to mounting vertical compared to horizontal?LOL @ caster shopping. I'm actually considering a pair of pneumatic tires up front under the bender itself, out board of the frame. Then a pair of heavier duty swivel casters out back under the notcher. All in due time. This morning, I spent a couple hours mounting up my notcher to the cart. Eventually, I will be adding a couple shelves and/or drawers. Over all, it maybe a little top heavy when I slide the tube into the bender. I have an over head electric hoist that I normally use for supporting the a$$ end of a full length of tube while bending.Edit - While I was building this cart, I got to thinking that I wished I had a die set for the 2" square tube. Otherwise, I would have actually bent the tube instead of miter cutting. Maybe next time. This build has been somewhat a prototype and was made up as I went along Attached ImagesLast edited by Scootr; 07-07-2013 at 03:50 PM.ScooterLincoln Weld-pak 155 - .030 Solid wire & 75/25 gas mixMiller Thunderbolt 225Hypertherm PM 85Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 38Gas ax with rose bud attachment
Reply:ScootrI get all my caster from Castercity.com the have foot pedal brakes that I have on my JD model 4. I just found when it got really heavy having swivel caster on all 3 made tight spots easy. Caster City has everything you build your own caster online they make it and ship it out. four 200 pound caster would give 800 pounds to pile on your stand. http://www.castercity.com/cmK3a-plate.htm Attached ImagesLast edited by worm122; 07-07-2013 at 06:14 PM.Donnelly Small Engine & WeldingFoley AlabamaLincoln 225 TigLinoln 215 migHypertherm Powermax 65Ellis 1600 sawEllis 6000 belt grinderJD2 Model 4 tubing benderAtlas  12"X54" metal latheLots of large hammers
Reply:Thanks Worm. I will look into that site. I may have heard of them, but Alzheimer's kinda kicked in. I'm currently not in short supply of space at the moment. My shop space is well over 2,700 square feet. Having 4 IH scout II's and a 51 Studebaker truck parked inside and still have plenty of space to work. If I do get over crowded in here, then I would consider swivel casters on all 4 corners as you have done. For now I'm ok with the one pair of swivels at one end of the cart. As I expand my knowledge, along with adding equipment, realty space in the shop will start becoming a premium. I am seriously considering getting into CNC plasma/router cutting. Along with building myself a decent welding tableScooterLincoln Weld-pak 155 - .030 Solid wire & 75/25 gas mixMiller Thunderbolt 225Hypertherm PM 85Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 38Gas ax with rose bud attachment
