New shop welder

Need a new welder in our shop and have been looking at the miller dimension 452.  Curious about the comments of those who have them or use them.  We are a heavy equipment company, and have the need to weld on plate over 1" in buckets and what not.  also considered the XMT 350 but not enough welder.  Just wondering if this is the right welder for us and why or why not and what else we may consider.  Also this machine will only be used for stick welding and mig welding with wire feeder(also need suggestions looked at the d-74s).  thank you for all your comments and help in advance.
Reply:Heavy equipment. I would have wanted something much more substantial.Certainly not an inverter..The Lincoln V450 PRO with FL74 4 roll wire feed, water cooled gun and smoke collecter.Or if you like Miller....Delta weld 452 with SD74 wire feed and  water cooled gun.I would let local Miller welding store know what you are going to do with it,Also I would go to a heavy fabrication shop and ask a welder.Yes i said ask the welder that is a structural or heavy equipment welder.They may know as much or MORE that the Miller dealer.Last edited by Donald Branscom; 06-22-2008 at 01:19 AM.
Reply:I do heavy equipment repair and have had no problems with my inverter (xmt304). I use my Ranger for the heavy stuff.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:I already talked to my local miller reps and told them about my application they were not as much help as I would have hoped.  As for lincoln or miller would rather stick with the miller.  Another problem is the power, no three phase, however we quoted an electrician on a converter for $2500.00.
