So I know a guy who is selling an AIRCO tig welder. It is about 15 yrs. old or so. 220V can be wired for more - was used in Industrial environment. The company he worked on upgraded all their machines in 1999 and offered the older ones to the employees. Each one was gone through to ensure it was working properly before being sold to employees. He has had it in his garage ever since - never used in the last 9 years..... I am calling him tonight to hopefully get some model information. It has a water cooled gun and foot pedal. He is looking to get around $500 for it.It can be wheeled around and has a spot on the back for a cylinder. Anyone have a clue if this is worth pursuing? MODEL# 3A/DDR-224HPA/B-DSerial#HG040075Thanks,Joe
Reply:Yep I believe its worth pursuing. It would be even better if it came w/ torches. At the repair shop in Nashville when I was picking up my Syncrowave 250, they were repairing Airco tigs for customers that use them every day. I have an Airco 250 mig power source thats working perfect; however the wire feeder took a dump anyway ....sure I say go for it. weld it like you own it
Reply:sounds like a good dealmatthttp://www.aloumac.ca/
Reply:Dont touch it----you would be much better served by one of those quality Everlast or Loonggevity units...I mean, that thing is ancient, positively antique.....For just a little bit more you can get the latest Chinese technology and parts....That thing is wore out....uh, where did you say it, er, you were located???? you know, just in case I'm passin by.....
Reply:Airco is good stuff. I just watched 30 of them go to the scrapyard. Went under the saltwater during Katrina. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Sounds like a great deal, does he have more than one machine?
