Hi Folks,The welding lead going into my "older" Miller XR30 push-pull gun was looking worn so I took out the allen key set screw, which holds the cable end in the gun, and removed the cable end. The heavy gauge copper wire was wrapped with a thin layer of copper, where it fits into the gun, so the allen key / set screw tightens down and squeeze it.I bared the cable back a few inches , wrapped the copper around as tight as I could, and held it in a vise while I hack sawed off the rest of the cable. But, I did not get the thin copper wrapped tight enough, around the copper wires, for the whole thing to fit into the hole where it goes, and tightens with the allen key / set screw. Is there a trick or good way to get the thin copper warpped tightly? Also, should I put di-electric grease or something between wires and thin copper, or on outside of thin copper, before re-inserting it?Thanks in advance for any help! |
