Analysis....... Silicon Bronze Vs. Stainless........

As a matter of practice..... I decided to make a couple "Pen Holders"......2" Sch 40..... welded onto 1/4" scrap plate.....3/32"....... 2% Lanthanated.......Vertical Up in 1/4 sections all the way around........One with Silicon Bronze Filler.... the other.... 308L Stainless Filler.....Items of note: Silicon Bronze is hard to read the puddle....... I watched all of the impurities swirl around... the bead is bigger but I used 3/32" filler...... Smaller HAZ......Stainless filler.....  1/16"...... Bigger HAZ.... easier to see the puddle....... No Impurities distracting me....... smaller bead profile........((......I hastily cut the pipe incorrectly...... the seam is on the left... not in the center front/back like it should be..... an oversight on my part today........))I'm not sure what looks better at my skill level........ Reply:309L might run a little nicer on the mild steel... That sili-bronze is nice stuff tho, eh?  Heres a little trick; try running it on AC with the balance at about 80%.  The bead will come out with a super bright, almost polished look to it due to the cathodic cleaning.You didn't build that.'85 Miller AEAD-200LE
