I have a fibre metal pipeliner with the ratchet head gear. I know they also have the rubber band style also. What are the pros and cons of each?Lincoln AC-225 90 amp flux core
Reply:The pros of the rubber band are that the ratchet nob doesn't stick out the back when your in a really tight spot or on your back. The rubber band is field repairable with a length of surgical tubing. I think the rubber band may be a problem if you have long hair and no welding cap.

Reply:In my very little experience, there's ratchet headgear and then there's Ratchet Headgear. The Jackson 370 system is really nice. The system on my low end Miller AD hood for hobbyists is a real annoyance. I hate it. I mention it because I wouldn't look at all ratchets the same.
