Ok, thanks to the forum I have narrowed down what im looking for in a bandsaw. However Im a little stuck on my options. My ideal unit is one that will cut 6" or 7" pipe at 90 degrees. And I'd like for the unit to be a SWIVEL head. Here's my problem. I'd like to go with a Jet but there 5 by 6 Swivel head is a little small untill you get up to bigger money units. I think there next Swivel unit is $2500+.Next there is the Grizzly G0613 7" x 8-1/4" Swivel. Its pushing $1500 to my door but it only has "ONE BLADE SPEED". Shouldn't I be concerned about this? All the saws I look at have several blade speeds. So my buget will allow $1500 but thats max. $1000 is better. Is there another saw I should be looking at. I want a decent unit thats why i was looking at Grizz and Jet. Is the Grizz just about my only choice? If the one blade speed is a deal killer, I may just as well be better off going with a Jet 7" by 12" standard head and dealing with the angles.
Reply:my g013 will be her tomorrow its the only swivel band saw for 1500 range and not made in china i was wounderingabout the one speed
Reply:hope it comes in with no damage. I guess you ordered it direct.Yeah im trying to figure out why its one speed but I guess there is bound to be a reason. Maybe it was a typo in the writeup.
Reply:Have you considered shopping the used market?Your budget will go much further...
Reply:I looked on Craig's list and there is nothing around here really. Seems that bandsaws are high demand. Plus I really would like to start off new.
Reply:This one has 3 speeds, more capacity, uses standard 93" blades, and costs less since it's on sale.http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?P...&PARTPG=INLMK3Turn-pro seems to be Enco's premium Taiwan brand compared to the Enco mainland China brand.Download the manual for G0561 p.23 for speed recommendations.Fwiw, I think most people pick a middle speed and leave it.Turn-Pro (non-swivel) bandsaw review:http://hobartwelders.com/weldtalk/sh...d.php?p=127259Last edited by Brad Blazer; 07-22-2008 at 01:05 AM.Lincoln SA200, HH135, Lencospot, HF80 Inverter, Rockwell 11x35 lathe, HF drill mill, Kama 554 tractor w/ FEL & BH, Belarus 250AS, lot's of Chinese tools |
