I have only used the 3M sanding discs on 7" grinders. The place I'm at now has 5" discs as well, I can't find the right backing pads or the nut made for these discs around the shop.Do any of you guys use the 5" sanding pads? What do the backing pads and nuts look like?I am piecing together stuff at work and it holds the disc on but not like it should. The nut sticks out too far....Yup

Reply:Thanks for the info guys. Dave, I already have the discs, and backing pads like shown in Kepe's link. But the nuts are all too long. They bottom out before clamping the disc.Yup

Reply:Burnit,What is the application? Which abrasive and Back-Up pad (part#)?3M has different length retainer nuts for holding the discs on. You most likely need a shorter retainer nut and possible a different hub.I'll send you a PM.David3M Abrasive Sytems Technical Service |
