were to get a decent drill bit set and what kind for steel
Reply:I use Hanson for general shop use.
Reply:I generally just use regular HSS bits, Hansen and Irwin are two decent ones that come to mind.  Stay away from Vermont American ....
Reply:The DeWalt bits are fair. They aren't the best and certainly aren't the worst. I find they last a good long while on the drill press when I use LPS Aquacut. Ryobi bits are junk.
Reply:were do you get hansen bits
Reply:Hardware store, J&L, probably MSC, Landmesser tools, maybe Northern Tool Guess it all depends on the area. Maybe check the internet for a location near you. Do a price compairison also.Last edited by lars66; 08-04-2008 at 07:26 PM.
Reply:I really liked the Black & Decker Bullet Bits and still use them even after they morphed into DeWalt. They really shine when drilling thin material. The only drawback is when drilling stacked pieces the washer they cut out will spin and you have to get rid of it but they don't grab when going thru like regular bits. The B&Ds were guranteed against breakage but I have no idea about the DeWalts. When they get dull, just sharpen it like a regular bit and you can still get some use out of it.
Reply:One more vote for HSS Hansen drills. If your nice to them they will last.
