I started out with the hf .30 flux core wire, burn alot of holes. finally short burst my way to success, after all I am only doing floor boards. well everyone says get some good wire, like lincoln, etc. I am pretty far from HD. so TSC is right down the road. Hobart .30 flux wire. It was like a totally different welder. I only burned one little hole and it was easily fixed. hardly any splatter compared to the other wire, and the hobart left a yellow dusting of flux afterwards.cleaned up so easy. I cant hardly wait to get my bottle and solid core !! great advice , get good wire ! night and day !!
Reply:sounds good....nothing like welding success stories. Might have to give it a try just to see how it behaves on my mig. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! HTP Invertig 400HTP Invertig 221HTP ProPulse 300HTP ProPulse 200 x2HTP ProPulse 220MTSHTP Inverarc 200TLP HTP Microcut 875SC
Reply:HF wire is crap. Hobart Lincoln Forney is best in my opinion. In fact, the welder machine doesn't really matter too much either. It's the consumable that makes all the difference.

Reply:I have to agree with Craig. I now have a MM 180, but my first unit was a cheap HF 90amp 110v fluxcore unit early last year. I was having spatter problems, so I figured I'd switch wire like everyone says. I tried 30 and 35 Lincoln wire....absolutely no difference, so I switched back to the included HF wire and played with the settings more, along with my technique. I got the HF to work pretty well, so I don't think that all HF wire is bad.Millermatic 180Clarke 130 StickCheap HF FluxcoreLotos LT5000D plasma
Reply:I dont have alot of experience but, I could only hit short bursts with the HF wire, with the hobart I could run a bead, and this on sheet metal. I used the complete roll !lb of HF wire. It was great on thicker metal , but on thin sheet metal the hobart kicked its butt!
Reply:I've gone through 1lb of the HF stuff and bought some Washington Alloy .035 FC wire. They seemed to weld about the same to me. I did by some Lincoln .035 FC, but haven't used it yet.
