I have had no instruction and only a little practice so far. Of course I posted the best shots, so you don't laugh too much. Lincoln Tig 300/300, 3/32" red, 3/32" S-2 filler, don't know what amps, no digital readout."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:Looks good Stick-man, I always thought you tig welded often tho. Guess thats why I don't get paid to think   Most of your beads look good but there are a few spots with lack of fusion-porosity, its hard to tell from the pics. The bead on the bottom looks like the steel got too hot and you didn't back off the pedal enough, but you will get better with practice. Also work on closing up the craters at the end of the welds.  Keep up the good work Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
Reply:If you clean the metal your welding on better, your results will be a great deal better as well..  They look good for starting out, some more practice and you should be good to go.. Just work on tieing in the welds better, and try to keep the same speed throughtout the whole weld..
Reply:Looks like a weld to me......Not sure what the general consensus is when the word TIG appears, but like any other weld it has it's place. Not always the best process but definitely easier on your clothes........  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:I think today went a little better. Same piece, just new, and I think better, passes."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:OK now, when they say stacking dimes that's not what they meant (last 2 pictures)... LOL
Reply:I find and you will also with time figure out that thinner filler is easier to "manipulate" than thicker stuff..It melts faster and you can actually get pedal operation down better with thinner stuff..Don't ask me how I know...Try it for the same amount of time you have been working with the big stuff and report back.Use all the same settings. And that's an order....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I have to add that I think the pics are deceiving. Across the welds is pretty flat, not convex. Here is a pic from the end view. If this matters."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:I tell this to the guys all the time..........running beads is OK if your  just learning but you have it down and weld with other methods.....So running beads is a waste of time in my opinion for you.......Weld something....set up some coupons and see how you do on actual weld conditions.......Chimpanzees can learn to run beads....[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_VdjKmBy7w[/ame]Last edited by B_C; 04-19-2013 at 11:27 PM.  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:+1 on the small filler, The colour on 18 ga. SS came up much better with .040" instead of 1/16", open corner.Looks like you have almost enough reinforcement on that angle.SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
