I need a engine driven Miller welder.  I need something to be able to power my Miller 210 and run stick welders at our shop.  As its doesn't have power yet.  Along with doing repair work on our fleet of equipment. I would like a diesel powered one.  But I doubt I can find one cheap.  So a gas powered will do.  Would like to find one with leads already.  I am looking so only spend about $1000 on it, as the grass isn't growing so as a landscape company we are hurting right now.  I am located in maryland.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:I'll take 2 if someone out there has a Miller engine driven for $1,000!  John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I had a miller bobcat with 2000 hrs on it that wasn't big enough to do what you wanted and I still got $1500 for it.   You are gonna be hard pressed to find a deal like that.  You might be better off looking for a used generator big enough for your purposes than a welder.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Here's one for you. http://cgi.ebay.com/Miller-Gas-Arc-W...QQcmdZViewItemUnfortunately it only puts out 120 volts. It's located only 25 miles away from me.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
Reply:Miller Big 40 for $500.  Diesel powered, 500a.  Needs a starter. It's in Seattle area.  If I don't buy it I will pass his number on to you.  I want him to put a starter and get it running before I buy it for that price + labor and parts.  If he refuses to do so, I won't buy it and you are welcome to it.  $500 + gas to come get it will put you over $1,000 but depending on what rig you drive it won't be TOO much over your budget.Message me in a week or two.  I'll let you know what happened with the deal.  If I remember i'll stop by again to let you know.
Reply:Man that would be awsome if seriously the only thing it needs is a starter.Sure its in good shape otherwise?cause now I'm jealous     weld it like you own it
Reply:It's used.  For sure.  Has wear and tear.  He says it only needs a starter and he got it from a company that just sold all their old welders and bought brand new ones to save money on maintenance in the long run.  So I believe it.  But not enough to buy it without seeing it run!Anyways, i'll shutup now to keep this topic in line and on topic.  I'll keep you updated if you are interested.
Reply:A Big 40 won't power a MM210. It has 5500 start up watts and 4000 continuous watts. About 2/3 of what he would need. He'd need at least 6500w to get full bore on the MM210.....and 10,000 to 12,000 or more to run stick welders, depending on the unit. Basic 50a draw at 230 vac would require 11,500w.Just looking at the wattage you'd want, you are definitely in the Bobcat, TB and up range. 1000 bucks won't get you much in that range. You could always watch Craigslist or Epay. There are always deal out there...hard part is finding them.
Reply:Really DDA52?  I am pretty sure the Big 40's can do up to 15,000w 3-phase 12,000w 1-phase continuous.  And at up to 500 amps or 40v you wouldn't find yourself limited on power for stick welding or wire if you got a cheap little suitcase feeder.
Reply:Well, 'boy.... you didn't say it was a Big 40 CC/CV or a Big 40 DLX as they used to be called. You said a Big 40 which is the base model and a 5.5k generator and always has been. Have you ever used one? I have and it is not limited in any way for power for any process, esp CC wire.  Just get it right.

Reply:I don't know if it is that one or not.  I was only saying that Big 40's CAN put out that much power because DDA likes to jump in and whine about people's posts...quite often.
Reply:I don't currently own a stick welder. What something I can stick weld with, power up our shop till I get the wiring in, and run my 210 in the time being.   So if anybody close to me knows about one forsale, let me know.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:Hey itsgottobegreen , go back and look at that welder Carl26 sent you the link for. See if you can get the serial number from seller so you/we can get schematic from Miller. Dollar to a donut says that machine has 120/240 volt power @ 5000 watts. Also, I think it has an idler - about the first year Miller put one on this air cooled portable. If so, this is a diamond in the rough - of course reserve has not been met, but these AEAD's don't go for anywhere near their real value on ebay. If you really want to get involved in this, go to:http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=13290See that odd outlet on the right of front panel and below switches? That is your 100 hz power while welding that is the subject of this thread. On the 5000 watts, no, you cannot see it but it is available under the right side of the welding unit itself. Betcha.       weldersales
