what does the typical welding rig include?

I'm not very familiar with the ins and outs of the pipelining industry, i don't know anyone in it and i'd really like to know what the typical rig includes... besides the welder in the truck but what else is there? i'm guessing a grinder, either 4.5" or 9", OxyAcetylene set up? chipping hammers and some steel brushes? Yeti cooler, a bunch of 6010's and 7018s? what else might be back there. I'm trying to get my foot in the door in the pipelining biz

Reply:I gotta ask, how much welding do you do now? like do you work for a welding company, or is this a hobby? Im not downing on you, nor do i know much about you, but i feel if you have to ask what tools you'd need to do the job, you probably arent ready to go out and do it on your own. also, why not just go apply to a company that does pipelining work as an apprentice, gofer, whatever, that way you get the best of both worlds, experience, and moneyThe truck I work off of isnt a pipelining vehicle, but it contains a **** ton of tools, so much so that without going out and taking inventory, i couldnt actually tell you everything that is on that truckMiller Spoolmate 200 w/t S-52 WirefeederMM 211'09 Miller Trailblazer 302

I was just praying to good you weren't like a hobbiest saying "**** it I'm ready to weld pipe" haha but it's good you got some experience anyways.I don't pipeline, so some of the other members here might be a lot better resource than I, but I work off of a truck 85% of my job, and it's fun stuff, if you really want to get into pipe welding, I urge you to find a school to get your certifications first, like your 2-6G and then try and find a pipelining company for an apprenticeship position! If I was in your shoes that's what I would do, worry about the truck later!
