Hand Rail For Dad

My dad is 78 years old and having a hard time getting up the porch step. I asked K-B to give me a hand and this is what we came up with (below). It is 2 inch galvanized pipe for the railing, which is about 35 inches high and 40 inches long. The footings are just some old plate cut and grinded to size (freehand). The side supports are about 5/16 inch solid bar, again with small round plates at ends for attachment points. It is covered with a black hammer finish paint.K-B turned out those nice aluminum end caps on his lathe.This was no ADA compliant hand rail. I basically just had my dad go up and down the step a few times to see about how far the railing should be placed from the house. Then he estimated about how high he would like it, to maximize his arm strength.Dad just loves it. Attached Images
