as I'm finally starting to learn my machines and try to fix them up.. I'd like to wire these machines with an isolated outlet on the front with a toggle switch to use a remote and local but would rather use a extension cord instead of pig tail coming off the machine and not really interested in wiring the rheostats in parallelI've search for days on here and Google but can't find the diagram I need.. was wondering if anyone could point me to a proper diagram?Ive been reading k_chupe's post a lot but can't really visualize it in my mindand I have the remote already bought... I know this topic has been beaten to death but any help would be great
Reply:I posted some wiring diagrams here. Maybe these are what you're looking for?http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...tes&highlight=Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:is the top picture in your post a diagram for wiring up the machine?I have a remote bought that CEP has in the pictures in your topic but I'm trying to find a diagram of how to wire up the welding machine with an outlet to run a remotety for your post .. much appreciatedLast edited by then3wguy; 12-05-2014 at 06:54 AM.
Reply:Yes, the top photo is the machine wiring. The bottom photo is the remote rheostat.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches

Reply:is there any chance you could take a few pictures of the pig tail on the inside of the machine and the toggle switch you used? and maybe of the wiring of the toggle switchave if the gas tank isn't in the way?

Reply:if you get a chance to get those pictures it would be great... I'm going to try and wire a red face first simply because there's less guages and wires to deal with compared to the black face I'm kind of working on now-new spark plugs-new plug wires-cleaned oil bath (don't know how to clean air filter)-just drained oil from crank case for oil change-cleaned what looked like bad gas from gas tank and fuel bowlhow often should the oil filter be changed?alsowas wondering how often radiator fluid should be changed?ty for any informationLast edited by then3wguy; 12-07-2014 at 07:29 PM.

Reply:I have a short cord that goes from that plug on the machine back to my reels:You just unplug that connection to roll the lead up.  My remote cord is taped to the ground lead, so it rolls up with it.  On the other end I have a connector that my actual remote plugs into.  My reels are "live", so the remote cord is all I have to unplug and plug back in.-------------------------Chemetron AC/DC 300 HFSnap-On MM300L Lincoln SP140 Lincoln AC/DC 225g Lincoln SA200 Lincoln SA200 Miller Bobcat 225GVictor torchesH&M and Mathey beveling machinesMcElroy Plastic pipe fusion
Reply:I really appreciate you taking the time to get some pictures and posting them, ty much for thatI have some questions for you thothe pigtail on the machine, did you cut that extension cord and tie in the "black, white, green" wires from the diagram where the extension cord was cut? or did you fish the wires thru the yellow sleeve of the pig tail and tie the 3 cords into the plug itself?on the toggle switch, middle connection... did you run a new wire from toggle switch to shunt field? or unhook the shunt field wire from somewhere else to move it to the middle of the toggle switch?sorry for all the questions, I'm new to this wiring and machine maintenance but wanting to learnthanks againyou don't use a cap at the end of the exciter?Last edited by then3wguy; 12-08-2014 at 09:38 AM.

Reply:thanks again.. I really appreciate it.. once I get my blackface running I'm going to try and wire my red face,  less wires to deal with for a first timethe 'black' wire that connected to the gold screw (on the diagram) that connects to the 'red to recepticle' (on diagram) .... did you connect that 'black' to the same terminal on the rheostate as this wire? and left the 'red' rheostate-recepticle wire alone?....in the diagram it looks like these wires are spliced together in the middle, a little confusingI got to use a classic 300D today for some 6010 roots.. I was impressed with how clean the roots were compared to shop machines

Reply:I've just been doing a lot of reading about wiring a pigtail to use with a remote.if I'm using a pigtail for the remote, will I have to change/replace the original grinder receptacle outlet (only 1 on my machine) to an isolated ground receptacle but on the pigtail be a standered female electrical cord plug? or would using an isolated ground outlet only be needed if i was not going to use a pigtail but cut a hole in the front panel for a receptacle and screw on a 2nd outlet(isolated ground outlet) so I could plug right into the front of the machine?I hope that makes some sence
Reply:and im guessing the receptacle used is a 20amp isolated ground? as opposed to a 15amp? or would a 15amp be preferred.... the area im in dont have any available and have to order one in.. http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/Produ...minisite=10251 ... something similar to this but an isolated ground ?thanks again for all the information thus farLast edited by then3wguy; 12-22-2014 at 04:55 PM.
Reply:Hybriweld in Morgan City LA has this one for a $20. bill.http://hybriweld.com/products/plugs/...eceptacle.htmlDepending on where you are located there are many places that sell parts for the SA200s. Many parts are special order too.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches

Reply:I've been thinking about pigtail but I think a separate, twist lock receptacle on the machine might be a cleaner look.. I haven't decided yetI'm guessing the welder needs to be running, motor and all to check the electrical with a voltmeter? or is it possible to hook up the battery and check electrical without the motor running ?please forgive the very basic of questions but my mechanical and electrical skills and talents are pretty much none... I'm trying learn by reading and I do appreciate the helpanother question... I'm going to buy new wiring and rewire my machine .. I see the colors... black, brown, red, white,  blue, yellow and brown/white.... is there any where I can find or does anyone know which guage wire size each of these colors are?
