I need some help tracking down some specs on an older quincy air compressor. I can't find anything with this same model number on quincy's website and the google search has come up empty. The numbers from the compressor areModel# 2100RBSer. 6134434I know my Dad sent it off to be rebuilt 8-10 years ago but i don't know where or who.any help would be great. thanks
Reply:Not sure of that model, but did you happen to email or call quincy?
Reply:Is there any other information on the nameplate or other labeling that might provide more clues about when or where this was manufactured?  According to quincycompressor.com Quincy goes back to pre-WWII and was purchased by Colt Industries in the 60's.  Later Colt Ind. was acquired by Goodrich in 1999, and in 2002 was spun off as EnPro.   If the labeling on the compressor or reveiver can provide some clue on when it was built then more info might be easier to find.-MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
Reply:Yeah since it has been rebuilt and not used a whole lot since it looked really new. But i'm guessing it's something like 15-20 years old. I was on the phone with quincy for a while this afternoon and after a few different service people we figured out that what i saw as 2100RB was actually 210QRB. So i did find out the specs.Which are for my application400-1000 Rpm@ 2HP and 800 Rpm output is 5.5 SCFM
Reply:You've tweaked my curiosity; can you post a picture of it? I would appreciate seeing it.
Reply:Sure here are two pictures of it. It looks pretty dirty and it is. But soon to be cleaned up and relocated to it's new place in the machine shop.and another question, the guage on the front i'm guessing reads the crankcase pressure?Does this have a pressurized oil system using the compressed air? Reply:they have a plant in bayminette alabama  just out side of mobile .
Reply:On the top photo, the device connected to the tubing appears similar to a centrifugal switch, but the gauge leads me to suspect that oil pressure operates the switch, which in turn shuts the pump down before the air pressure gets very high if the oil pressure is low. I'd remove the gauge to see if it screws into an oil passage. The line to the pump head  probably goes to a head unloader which holds the intake valves open.If the oil is pressurized, a small pump likely does it rather than crankcase pressure. The tube at the other end, sticking up with an ell on its top end, looks like a breather tube.
Reply:That crankcase end cover in fact houses the oil pump and that's a hydraulic unloader above the oil pressure gauge. From the Quincy website:MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
