In my pic for my avatar is my work truck. Its a knapehide 10 foot flat bed on a 91 FSuper Duty. I wanted it to be removeable to go from truck to truck or to a trailer. its a self contained unit but I wanted to see if anyone has made something similar or just made their own welding beds or trailers.Miller Bobcat 255Hobart 190 and spoolgunLincoln AC 225Lincoln LN-25Rock and Roll hoochie coo
Reply:It depends on what kind of work you Preform and whether you are full time or part time and how much $ you have.For me I have an old welding bed converted to a gooseneck trailer with a welder ,air compressor ,torch and hand tools. But i do not make my living from this equipment. Im a hobby welder/repairman, so with the trailer do not have to haul all this weight around every day. If I were full time self employed a truck with a bed would be a must have. But for what i do the trailer works great. Thats my two cents
Reply:thats pretty much I do. mainly as a hobby and a service for friends and just to make a few extra bucks. I have a full time job at the local grainery and do side work for other farmers. But thats part of what keeps my interest up on welding repair. were I dont get to do it al day everyday I dont get burned out on it. Reply:Not a big fan of borrow/lending, cause usually your stuff comes back worn or broken. It my save your friend $, but it cost you $. Some times it is easier to charge or do it for Free.The gooseneck trailer helps, since most people do not have a goose neck hitch. My current co workers are younger than me, so they do not have as many tools/ stuff as i do. So earlyon made it clear about not borrowing/lending. Told them thats why we all have our own Wife, so we do not have to be borrowing. |
