Hey guys,I want to build a trailer for my welding equipment. Unfortunately I can't afford to just go buy a trailer and modify it nor can I afford to buy the parts. I am looking for an old trailer with a 3500 pound axle. I will use the axle and springs for the beginning of my welding trailer. I can come up with the rest over time to build the trailer. If anyone is anywhere close to Dallas that has what I need, please let me know what it would take to get it. I have a little cash and some things I could trade.I don't think I want to go lighter than 3500 pound axle. I can get cheap boat trailers all day long but they are light weight axles and springs. I already have a boat trailer for an 18ft boat but it has small tires, etc.....I want to mount an engine driven welder (450 lbs), and oxy/acyt setup (? lbs) a 20 gallon air compressor (100 lbs), three tool boxes (full of grinders and tools) and a box to hold my leads. If anyone can help, please let me know.Bob

Reply:We have several trailers, several that were used for welders. Located in Dallas. weldersales
Reply:Weldersales,Where in Dallas are you? Are all your trailers complete and on a sales lot? If so that is out of reach for me. If you have basket case trailers with good axle and springs we can maybe work something out.

Reply:Bob,I am not anywhere near you, but I have made a few farm trailers from destroyed/burned mobile homes and RV's. I got paid to remove one. Keep your eyes open for them. They often will have axles and springs, but not tires. Depending on their level of destruction, you can often salvage nice long beams that can be used also...In some states, you can't use mobile home axles on new homebuilts, but if you have one with a registration/id number already, you can modify or replace with whatever works for you. My dad and I use the ones I have built hauling hay, gravel, trees, cars, occasionally equipment (not really heavy equipment, but at least a few thousand pounds). They ain't the prettiest, but they work well and had a good price...close to free or free.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'. |
