I have a bunch of pieces of aluminum from some sorting equipment. I am going to scrap out most of it, but there are some pretty good pieces that I would hate to see go to waste. Almost all of it has holes in it. I was thinking of making a bicycle trailer frame with some of it.The tape measure is extended about 41" to give you a reference for the size of the pieces. This is just the "tip of the iceberg": Attached ImagesLincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
Reply:You don't work on mail sorters do you? If you do, we have that in common. I have managed to be in just the right place, my employer had to get rid of lots of good stuff on more than a couple of times. I always helped by taking all that old machinery off their hands and they didn't have to hire someone to haul it off.I'd love to have some of that clean prime aluminum but the shipping could be steep?

Reply:Actually I don't work on them. I work for a small gasket manufacturing company. We have a warehouse and stored several of these large Bell + Howell machines for another company. Well they stripped the machines of all of the important parts and now we are left with a bunch of scrap metal. So now I get the fun job of dismantling them. It's a nightmare. There are about a million screws holding these things together.I just figured someone more crafty than me could use it for something useful. We might just scrap out the entire machines as they are just to free up the space. Yeah shipping might be a problem.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
Reply:If anyone is looking for a particular size, length, thickness, etc. let me know. I'm not in a rush to sell any of this, besides I would need to clear it with the boss first. I just saw it and thought of you guys here at Welding Web. The thicknesses range from about 1/8" to 5/8" and from 6" to about 48".Last edited by Carl26; 12-29-2007 at 09:40 PM.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
Reply:I would love to have some or all of that scrap. I just bought a machine capable of welding it, so I'd love to have the practice- and project- material. I'm down in Peoria, any idea what it would cost to ship? What part of Chi-Town are you in?Hobart Stickmate LX AC/DC, Millermatic 252 & 30A spoolgun, Thermal Arc 185 TIG, Miller BWESmith Oxy-AcBridgeport 2J , South Bend 42" 9AHusky 7.5 HP 22.3 CFM 80 gal compressor
Reply:Sorry, I was told that we will be scrapping this out soon. Shipping probably would have been expensive.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
