Reply:Lincoln 70+. Ran it with a 5. Didn't have any 3/16. Was pushing my skill level with a 5. Would have been easier with a 3.

Reply:I've only ever used 7018 to cap projects like this. What are the advantages of an 8010 electrode, other than the increased tensile strength?Scott
Reply:The main thing is its alot faster to weld out with 8010 downhill than running lohydrogen uphill. It is also what our procedure calls for.

Reply:Never used 8010 before. Do you use any motion or just drag it?
Reply:BUMP. More on the 8010 please.
Reply:In my very limited experience with downhill welding, I used a 6010 and a whip and pause like you would do a root uphill. Short steps. But I only did it in school for about 3 weeks.
Reply:I use small circles or a whip and pause on the top and bottom quarters. The did is just a side to side motion. Hope it helps.
Reply:Nice!!
Reply:yeah 8010 is a different beast from 7018 family. Ive been taught by some good welders how to run both. Practice makes perfect.~1987 Lincoln Sa-200~~1978 Miller Big 40~ (restored) ~and everything inbetween~ |
