This is my latest project. I built it for a family camping trip / family reunion. There's always a large group of us and we all want to sit together and talk around a fire so I thought this would be great! It's completely portable, assembles and disassembles in about 30 min. with one helper. It was fun to make and a big hit at the reunion! Reply:GREAT project!!!!!!!!!I would agree with Tackit on the cover though. Maybe some rolled tubing bows with a plastic tarp, bungee corded on for shade? I bet those would sell well anyway.RogerOld, Tired, and GRUMPYSalesman will call, Batteries not included, Assembly is required, and FREE ADVICE IS WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT!Dial Arc 250HFThunderbolt 225 AC/DCAssorted A/O torches

Reply:Saw one recently in wood that was 6 sided which I plan on doing around our fire pit. Nice work. I like the portable aspect of it.There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:Nice work. "Trusses" and thatch, por favor.
Reply:Thanks so much everyone!Yes, once we got out there we saw the need for roofing, but with a fire in the middle, that makes it hard to cover. Also, the protability aspect would get more dificult when you have to cart around a roof.We did however, stretch out a tarp and bungee it to the top when we didn't have the fire going during the day lol... kept the sun off of us at least ;-)Mike~ Like Metal Sharpens Metal; So can we all do for each other, We should never be so proud that we can no longer learn! Please Come By & Visit My Site!
Reply:One thing I thought of when I seen it is what happens when the fire starts to get to hot to be 1 foot away from it? I know many times while camping it is already 90 degrees outside which normally makes people sit about 5'+ from the camp fire. Not trying to put it down at all, it is a very neat swing set and great idea!
Reply:Nice job. I bet there were many stories told and retold. There's nothing better than family, when everyone plays nice. We just had a family get together. I smoked two 16# briskets, a bunch of sausage, and served up three different types of home brew. Thanks for sharing.
Reply:I like your design alot might steal for the fire pit in the back yard, easier to make it perm, but then I would have to get rid of the van bench seats out there now lol.

Reply:"Borrow" away everyone LOLAs far aw moving away from the fire when it get too hot... yes, the fire needs to be a small one :-) and we enjoyed it so much! It's much easier to make if you do it perm instead of protable, but then we couldn't take it to our many functions that are not here at the house :-)Yall have a great Sunday with loved ones!!Mike~ Like Metal Sharpens Metal; So can we all do for each other, We should never be so proud that we can no longer learn! Please Come By & Visit My Site!

Reply:What a great idea!!! Looks great! Now I have another project on my to do list, thanks a lot for that. lol
Reply:very nice build. just a thought, if you made the armrests with a slight outward flare the bench sections would stack inside each other for ease of storage and transportation. again congrats. |
