My TIG machine is a Lincoln Invertec V250-s TIG/stick, and I have been using it primarily in the TIG function at less than 100-120 amps.  I'll occasionally use it to run 1/8" 7018, or even 6011, but not very often.  http://www.lincolnelectric.com/asset...OLN3/Im490.pdfThis machine is a touch-start/lift-start TIG, DC only with no high frequency.  The torch I have been running is an air cooled WP17 clone I picked up on eBay when I bought the machine years ago.  The torch body has the arc start switch that is wired into the remote plug on the front of the machine, and I'm not using a foot control/amptrol or shield gas solenoid.  I basically set my amperage, open up the gas valve at the regulator, and weld...then shut off the gas valve at the reg once finished.  I guess this definitely gives me plenty of post-flow!  Here's what I am looking for.  I'd like to find an air-cooled TIG torch body that not only has the arc start switch, but also has a gas valve as well.  Does such an animal exist?  I've looked through Radnor and Weldcraft, but haven't been able to find one.  Thanks!
Reply:Seems like it would be easy to hack into the start button, and wire up to a gas valve. Post flow would require some sort of timer. You could also get a solenoid and rig it to a toggle switch on the torch, if you like quick and dirty solutions.

Reply:You can get the start button from lincoln, they clip on to the torch handle. Check out ck for the torch, they are good quality torches. Ckworldwide.com
Reply:I added a gas valve to the inside of my maxstar152 and built a 2 switch system so that you stepped on a pad that turned on both switches. You could step on just the gas but the "arc on" switch hit them both. The valve was powered by the welder. Reply:I made my own switch setup on the torch also. Radio shack will have the switch you are looking for. Make sure it is a plastic housing and button. The metal switch I used on the first rendition shocked me....(Home)Miller Maxstar 152 (sold)MM211/spool gunLincoln AC 225C(Work)Dynasty 350Powcon 300STLincoln SP-175TWeldlodgic AWS150sWeldlodgic AWS300Custom Resistance seam weldersCambridge Vacuum EB weldersI smell something burning.
