This was given to one of the weldors at work a couple months ago by the company but he never took it home and when I got on his case and asked him yesterday when he was he said he didn't have any room for it and that I might as well take it home.  I checked with him today to see if he was serious and again he said he didn't have any room for it, if he needed to weld anything he'd just come to shop and do it (he lives just up the road from it) and yes, he was serious - take it.Don't have to tell me more than twice.  Was told it worked the last time it was plugged in.  We'll have to find out.Airco Aircomatic MIGet CAV II.  Dragging it out of the back of the 'Burban.  I really need a truck. Some of that 30 year old dust.  Well, maybe more like 10-15.If it works (or after fixed if it doesn't) I'll have to do something about the face.  Lettering wipes right off due to the severe paint lifting.OK, some of that dust has got to be 30 years old.  Air traffic had to be re-routed due to the dust storm when I blew it out.Stand by for a few more shots. . .MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:. . .of the Profax spoolgun.Gun equipped with 45' of cable/hose.  At least 30' of ground cable with Tweco clamp but I forgot to take a shot of that.A couple new nozzles, used contact tubes and contact tube nut wrench.Interesting thing - the right side housing panel is aluminum and the right side and top are steel.I'll let you know if it fires up.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:man you always get good deals! if it runs anything like the airco i have you will like it! hope she works out for ya big D.
Reply:Can you believe that guy?  Deals just fall out of the sky into his lap!
Reply:I scrapped maybe 5 of those old airco welders a couple of years ago.  They were good units in their day.I did sell the one that had the spool gun hooked to it.    I wish I would have kept it instead of teh cobramatic that replaced it.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.

Reply:Wow Duanne you find all the goodies. You may have a hard time convincing Judy you need another Goodie especially if she thinks you bought it.I can certainly see what you meant about the dust and dirt in that unit. You could have brought it to Kansas and when you blew it out they would think they just had another dust storm.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.

Reply:Yup 7A749, that's pretty much the unit.  Looks good.I've got a practically new Miller WC-1S and Spoolmatic 1 that I could run on it too.  If all works well - or if not and I fix it - I'll have to look out for a wire feeder.I appreciate you looking for that schematic.  BTW, have you seen both steel and aluminum side panels on the same unit as this one has?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I've never owned an Airco machine.  I used to see quite a few of them in use. Only one I know of now is an old TIG machine with watre cooler & all the goodies.   LOL it's about 3' square & 4' tall not counting the water cooler.    Did Airco/Westinghouse  welding equipment get gobbled up by  ITW/Miller, or ESAB or Thermal Arc. possibly even Panasonic.  I know ITW & Thermal Arc split Hobart Brothers welding equipment division.   ESAB Gobbled up LINDE.I know ESAB still supplies most parts & has downloadable manuals for LINDE welding equipment.  What they don't have listed online you can request them to email you a .pdf file of the manual(s)Try contacting each of the welding manufacturers customer service departmen(s) & ask.   One of them undoubtedly will know who holds the rights to the machines.  It's hard to imagine The doccumentation for these older Airco machines is now completely non existent.   But maybe so.
Reply:YOU know what's sad...I have so much crap around I forgot that I actually still have an airco left!   Were so friggen slow around here right now I have been just going through all the crap that accumulates over 52 years of being in the same location.I will pull the side panel off and see if it still has a diagram.   I had it setup to run 045." 71 M (FCAW-S) with a miller feeder for my short lived experiment with gas shielded flux core arc welding.   The machine hasn't even been plugged in for the last 8 years thati can remember.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:She lives!  I changed out the stubby primary power cable and our shop standard 50A twist-lock that was on it with a longer cable and 50A 3-prong plug to match my extension.  Cooling fan ran smooth and quiet, open circuit voltage tested out from .2v at minimum to just under 45v at maximum, contactor activates with spoolgun trigger and gun feed motor runs smooth and varies with speed and voltage adjustment. The great folks - well, one in particular - at Arc Products got me fixed up with a manual that includes what apprears to be the correct wiring diagram even though it's not exactly the same as the one inside the unit.Dualie, I think the one on the panel includes the schematics for the spoolgun and canister too which the manual version doesn't so if you still care to look for that one you might have I'd still be interested in seeing it.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:Of all my machines I still prefer using my LINDE equipment & they are OLD to say the least.  My VI-400 is a late 60's vintage I'm not sure about the VI-253 250A machine.  Both coupled with MIG-35 Wire feeds. I run almost exclusively E71T1 .045 wire.   The only other machine I have that actually has a slightly better arc is an even older "HOBART 300A microwire" motor driven DC generator type machine.Others I have include Lincoln DC600 multi process machine, Hobart Mega Flex 450 RVS Lincoln Ranger 250GXT engine drive &  a couple other Lincoln Idealarc stick machines.I guess my point here is New is not always better.   I bought the Lincoln DC-600 around a 2000 year mod.  At a bankruptcy auction thinking I would be improving myself.. Used it for a couple weeks. Unhooked it & wheeled back out the 400 A Linde.  The lincoln welded fine just not better in any way. + it took up more room. Attached Images
Reply:Well I got distracted today as my 12K Yale fork decided it wanted to have a small electrical fire.    Thankfully it was just the wire to the strobe light on top and there was ZERO residual damage. But alas I didn't get that panel off.   I'm contemplating going in tomorrow if I don't get roped into doing things with my better half.I also still have 4 VI-400's one of which powers my Cobramatic with the prince gun. The main one has had thousands of pounds of wire pushed through the feeder and still welds like butter.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:For what the Linde VI 400,450's can be picked up for, Especially if equipped with the later mod MIG 35 feeders.  They are great machines.   I am running mine off of RPCs also.   Below are some before & after of a repaint of a VI 450.  I didn't have time to get the front louvers cleaned properly for paint.   I'll have to make that happen over another weekend. Reply:I still have 3 Aircos in the shop. An Aircomatic 300 used to burn .072 dual shield untill it become unavailable and had to switch to .062 Two PA- 3As pulse machines from the olden days that run Alum wire thru Xr feeders real sweet. I had a weeks shop try out of a 350P a few years ago and could see no reason to up date.
