Anybody build a cup holder?

I have a 2000 F450 with a bench seat.  I need to put a double cupholder in it.  I don't want to attach anything to the floor because of dogs and seat moving up and back.  I want to be able to hold up to a 44 ounce drink and a couple of cell phones.I was thinking about a bracket that attaches to the center of the bottom of the dash, with a leg back to the firewall.  Has anybody done anything like this?I have looked at all kinds of cup holders but haven't found anything yet that I can mount and look good.Last edited by Crabo; 10-26-2013 at 06:03 AM.
Reply:Look at the cup holders from a 95 era Chevy truck. They add on to the bottom of the dash, and are easy to adapt to other vehicles.

Reply:If you're going to make something custom, boat cup holders might work well for the actual cup-holding part.  They're available in white or black plastic or stainless and usually fit in a 3.5" hole.  They also make some pre-made double units that are basically two of those in a block wrapped in various colors of marine vinyl with different mounting options.

Reply:Mount it to the bottom of the seat to the metal frame and run a support out to attach the cup holder. That way it moves with the seat and will be more stable than on the dash.

Reply:I like the seat frame idea.Moves with the seat, can be placed between the driver and center passenger.  Could fit 2 cup holders one infront of the other instead of side by side.You would still have room to seat 3 people, and it would place the cup holder right about where your hand would naturally fall.  Give yourself a week you would never half to look to grab the cup or put it back.
