I was practicing some oxy welding this evening and was having some problems with torch blowing out. Victor knock off is all I know, bought it used last year(mostly for tanks). Any way, 160 oxy tank, 80(ish) ace, small handle torch with #2 tip, both regs set at about 4 lbs. last week didn't have any trouble, even had some decent looking welds. Tonight every time a puddle would start to form I'd get a pop then lose flame. After about the third or fourth time of this noticed the torch handle getting hot, not too hot to hold but almost uncomfortable. Is this normal? Didn't know so shut everything down for now. Appreciate any feed back.Tom
Reply:Without more info, I'd say your tip needs cleaning. Here is a time proven guide on oxy acetylene in .pdf for downloading.
