miller 211 mig about to buy ?

thinking about buying this as im welding some dirty azz thicker steel then im use and its turning out very very ****ty.  if your want to laugh check of my tig thread So who has this welder ?what do you like about it ?Is it a good welder ?whats a good place to buy from online ? im looking cyber weld ?  around here they wanted 1342 and wont go down plus 9 % sales tax  these people are high. what wire to buy  will be welding outside and kinda dirty metal

Reply:lol I know cleaning the metal is a good step and I remember  why I buy all cold rolled steel but Im making a few things on the cheap . When I tig weld it always be super clean and inside a building. i wanted the parts to look nice This time its out side and don't care how the parts look just need to be strong and faster then how im doing it now.I hit all metal with a angle grinder and wiped with acetone but its so dirty and I think semi windy it came out like **** I went though 5 tungsten's as they kept dirtying up  even the flap wheel wont cut though all the mil scale  with out a lot of grinding

Reply:^^^ I agree, a stick welder is better for that kind of stuff.   I have a 211 and like it.  But for the heavy, dirty stuff, the stick welder and 6011 is what I use.  I've also come to the conclusion that sometimes going the cheap route with junk metal doesn't save any money,  especially if you have to buy a welder for it!  I've wasted too much time and money trying to reclaim dirty, rusty metal.

Reply:The 211 is a great machine especially being 110 / 220 multi  volt.. There are many postings on this if you wanna search. Reply:Also try weldersupply.comI got a miller tig from them, very good to deal with.As BD1 said, that welder is in their 15% rebate program thru the end of August. My LWS gave me a good quote on that unit, yours may do the same if you point that out to them.

Reply:Ordered my 211/Spoolmate 100 package off Miller's site. It shipped from BR Welding Supply in Maryland. Spoolmate arrived first, and day or two later the brown truck was back with the 211. This was back in '10 I believe, and got $100 rebate on the 211, and $25 on the SM 100. Just under $1,100 IIRC with the rebates. Reply:The mm211 kicks @$$..  In fact, I use it now all the time as my "go-to" mig welder, instead of my more powerful Lincoln 216!!!!!!!  It is such a solid built machine that can handle the thickest of jobs within reason.
