I have a project that I'm doing for my Civil Engineering and Architecture class and need a Civil Engineer to answer some questions for my project. If any of you know somebody and could put me in touch with them via email that would be amazing! My email is [email protected]

Reply:PE's use a stamp for the states they are licenesd in. Minnesota stamp is useless in California and vice versa. Usually I see structural E stamps supercede civil E stamps. Mechanical, electrical and architects also have stamps. It usually costs about $200 for an engineer to use his stamp unless its new architectual drawings. Then its around $2/ square ft.What do you need all that personal info for? It doesnt seem to answer any engineering question unless your screening the engineer before you ask for advice.BTW, I think the mechanical E would be familiar with civil E and offered his help. It might be worth it IMO. Most PE's dont just give free advice.Last edited by Insaneride; 02-11-2015 at 09:57 AM.
Reply:Sounds like the basic generic questions that get asked when they want you to go talk to someone who is already employed in the field. I think many times they just want you to get a chance to talk to someone who has gone thru all this before so you can ask any questions you might have as to if this is the way you want to go..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I forgot this link.  This outfit was the biggest construction company in the world to my knowledge. I could be wrong. Anyway, they are still around as an engineering company and do work all over the world.  I wanted to work for them years ago and it would be a good place look into for anyone looking at becoming a PE IMO.http://www.bechtel.com/
Reply:I'm not sure what the E means. In CA you used to be able to take the EIT (engineer in training) test no matter what education or degree you had. After several years working in an enviroment with a PE you earned the right to take the PE (professional engineer ) test. I knew several EIT's who were self taught.
