Anyone know a source for angle iron shaped punches. Need to pierce tubing and slide angle iron through, dont want to have to burn 48 angle iron shaped holes. Dont want to have to mill them either.Ranger 250 GXTSmith Gas Axe

Reply:Punching through tubing? If you got a plas cutter, you could just make a pattern. If you don't have a plas cutter, you could prolly buy one cheaper than a set of angle iron shaped dies.My name's not Jim....
Reply:Cannot punch tubing unless using an elaborate set up consisting of an inner die and outer dies. Other wise the tubing will be crushed.Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180

Reply:Water jet is your friend here.No punching on tubing with out BIG$$$$I would be looking for CNC plaz or water jet near by and sub out this part of the job.
Reply:This job will be 3x3x3/16 angle through 3x6x3/8 rectangle tubing. May just use the good old gas oxy metal remover for first set. Down the road if it becomes a regular job I'll look to sub out or somethin'. May look into a tracer torch....'Preciate the feedback ya'll.Ranger 250 GXTSmith Gas Axe
Reply:Id like to see how you planned on punching a hole in square tube without some elaborate die set.Sounds like a job for cnc plasma, I just had to do the same thing with slots for 1/8" flat bar in 2x2 tube.Have we all gone mad?
