Reply:hes right. A few years ago, the welding dept bought a bunch of 50lb boxes of hobart 6010. i dont know if it was pipemaster, or what its name was, but the stuff was horrible. Honestly, i suspect it was a bad lot, because noone would ever buy it a second time. You'd actually get like arc blow, where you couldn't direct your weld. You could actually see the flux break off prematurely in flakes, because of the heat right above the end of rod while your welding. It was so bad, it wasn't even good enough for the beginner students to learn on. The teacher then, started sticking it in lincoln cans, to try to trick some of the students into using it. I don't think that worked very good, not sure how he disposed of what was left.
