Buying Idealarc 250 square top

Well after a few weeks of going back and forth on wetter or not to purchase a new mig or to find a power source for my ln 25. I found a good deal on a idealarc 250 that's a one owner and been in a fab shop for a reputable company. I just want to know how good of arc quality I can expect from using  this setup on my ln25 set on cc using 0.35 er70s6 hobart wireMiller Bobcat 255Hobart 190 and spoolgunLincoln AC 225Lincoln LN-25Rock and Roll hoochie coo
Reply:Unfortunately, not very good. CC doesn't run small diameter solid wire very well. In my limited experience, the arc was harsh and left a rough appearance bead.CC runs larger diameter flux core very well. That machine is a nice little stick welder, but performance with that wire you have will be less than optimal. It will get the job done of fairly thicker metals tho. Reply:An Idealarc 250 is great machine for stick but running MIG, it will probably only work half decent when you're over about 21 volts(voltage sensing feeders usually need around 24 volts or a little lower to work properly). If you want to use it for thin material or out of position it will probably be too hot. You can't substitute a CV machine at lower volts/amps with a voltage sensing feeder on CC. Voltage sensing feeders work very well with self shielded flux-core and some gas shielded flux-core wires too when the voltage and amps are higher.
