Trying to finish my boat today, had a few welds start to crack on the ribswhich made the floor start to crack, and found a couple pin holes from thewelds "small leaks suck". Cleaned all areas to be welded as good as possible.Tiny traces of crud stuck in the cracks I could get at all but all in all 99% clean.Started off with 1/16 setup with 4043 rod and gas lens, did one then went to 3 /32 rod and tung. with gas lens. Argon set at bout 15 , 2% lanth. tung.lincoln precision tig 225 set at about 130 amps didn't use it all, even triedpulse about 1-2 pps. Balance about 70 ish. Boat guage is .100Trying to run the pedal with my leg while rolling on my creeper welding overheadis hard. Is there any advice on an easier way, or my setup? Maybe advice?Practiced on some material before hand and had good results doing it overhead.Found 2 welds I need to do over just visual inspection. Want to get them done so I can fill the boat up with water again to check for leaks.  Thanks.   James
Reply:Tip #1- Flip the boat over.   That's all I really have for you, sounds like you have things set right.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG

Reply:Originally Posted by vettersjakeI did some but the cracks lay underneath the rib on the floor.  So you can't even see it from in the boat.  Is there a trick to overhead tig? Weld wants to ball up.  Hard to keep puddle moving before it starts to sag.  Iam still lernin tig so I like advice.  James
Reply:Thumb amp control If you can't turn it over or on its side. You can check for leaks by putting a couple inches of water in it instead of launching. If you drain the oil,  you still could flip it pretty easy. A foot control is tough to use if your not sitting, but a finger control is hard to get used to.
