I know you guys love the Dynasty welders, so I thought maybe you could help me here. I am looking to upgrade my tig (Lincoln Invertec 205) to something a little bigger. The players are the Miller Dynasty 350 or the Lincoln Invertec 311. I'm a single phase kind of guy so my output power is limited as follows;Dynasty 350 – Single-Phase: 225 A at 29 V, 60% Duty CycleInvertec 311 -- Single-Phase: 310 A at 22.4V, 35% Duty CycleI imagine the duty cycle of the Invertec at 225 A is close to the 60% of the Dynasty, but the ability to briefly run at 310 A on the Invertec is compelling even at 35% Duty Cycle. Both units are comparably priced around $7800 List. The Lincoln weighs in at 75lbs and the Miller at 135lbs. and both have similar features. So am I missing something here when comparing the two machines? What do you think? Thanks in advance for your input!
Reply:The Dynasty 350 is rated at 350 amps, single phase, at 10% duty cycle.  Not that you'd ever need it....If they were the same price, the 350 hands down.  In my experience, Lincoln always had a few extra features at the same price point as Miller. With Lincoln you get the LCD display - which may or may not be good (can you read it 25ft away?)The Miller will do 400Hz and I believe 5000pps.  Again, not that you'd ever hit those numbers. The Miller has two different square waves.  I use soft square wave 99% of the time because its less grating on the ears. The Miller has an AC balance that seems to be unique at this level of machine (Miller Dynasty 350 and 700 have it, the 200 does not).Personally I don't use 'memory' features much and I don't use T4 etc. setups.Biggest annoyance with Miller is that some things are on a hidden menu and I can never remember how to bring them up.  Rarely want to use the menu, but I like to double check settings when things are going weird.BTW, My machine is not a "blue lighting" one.The local LWS gives about 15% off on the Miller - mail order, if you look hard you might be able to find 20-25% off (start with E-bay).  Keep an eye on rebates from Miller as well.  You are going to want a complete setup.  Water cooled etc.  Miller's pricing on carts is ridiculous.  Careful shopping can save you some serious bucks.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:You got something wrong. Dynasty350s run at 350 amps on single or three phase. I think your duty cycle is 60% at 225 amps, versus somewhat about  less duty cycle at 350 amps on single phase. If you have 3 phase, you can run 350 amps hardcore. Unless you like Italian/European user interface, the Dynasty is the way to go.Last edited by shovelon; 08-29-2013 at 04:41 PM.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:Maybe an option. With single phase being your power limit you may want to consider the Esab 281I. It has a high duty cycle 250amps @ 100% with a limit of 280Amps total, it doesn't have some of the advanced features of the other two. Square wave only, pulsing is limited from .4-2 pps for ac and .4-300 pps for dc, 20-200 hz for ac.

Reply:Yep! You are absolutely correct! This is worse than an accounting class!
Reply:Having owned a Lincoln machine (TIG 355) for 17 years (Bought it new)  I can say they make quality stuff. I went with Miller not because it was cheap, which it wasn't ( 8200.00) but because they seem to have the best tech support and dealers around....So many out there the feed back is incredible......Can't go wrong with either, but I like my Miller machineI use a 50 amp single Phase connection and never had a problem....I weld all day and it just runs...  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:I have red, blue, and purple machines, but I would go with the Miller unless weight was a major factor. I think Miller has the edge in TIG welders these days.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
