On to the next project.....gymnastics bars.

So my little one wanted a high bar like the one at her gymnastics gym. So this is the one I'm copying. The main frame is 1.75" .120 wall square. The telescoping part is 1.5" .095 square. I have to order the wood bar that will span the two frames. After looking at all the different gym bars they all use 1.5" maple round. No one here in las vegas has maple round!!  the bar will telescope up from 36" to 60" in 6" increments. The weld seam inside the tube was a challenge. I had fun trying to figure out how to get the 1.5 to slide smoothly inside the 1.75.  I used a cutoff wheel in the 4.5" grinder to make a groove for the seam.  Worked like a champ!!I have one welded up so far. Of course I have to include a pic of my only good looking beads.

Reply:Thank you Spitek.  I'm almost finished!  I had fun today with this project making the rounded tabs for tube that'll hold the wooden bar. They're all tacked up waiting for final weld tomorrow. LOL I would've finished them tonight but my welder makes the neighbors LED kitchen lights flicker!

Reply:For full length wall mirrors, I bought sliding closet doors from home depot when I turned a room into a ballet workout area.  They were a lot cheaper than from the glass shop.
Reply:Hey thanks for the compliments everyone. gizzmo, thank you for reminding me I still have to drill a hole in the sockets to secure the maple rod which should be here Wednesday. All else is done. Hopefully my bro in law will powder coat them Monday or Tuesday. I'll post up again after paint.

Reply:Thanks for the kind words!  The maple came from Baird brothers. I think they're in Ohio.  Well here's the final product!
