I see where it has adjustable AC balance, but nowhere do I see that it's a square wave, which the Lincoln 175 (no adjustable balance) IS, at roughly $600 cheaper. Is there some trade-off between having AC balance and not having square wave?
Reply:how much aluminum do you plan to weld? I THINK that if a welder has a balance control it is by definition a squarewave welder. if you are going to weld aluminum, I say go for the 225. You will need the extra 50 amps.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:I just checked a Precision TIG 225 owners manual and it says it has "full range squarewave TIG welding".Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:I have the 225 I use it almost everyday and I'm addicted to it!!! U want the 225. Has pulse and you can adjust post flow. Even tho I'm not really into the pulse. Jodie makes the pulse look so good and easy to use but really it's not the greatest to me. If you plan to do alot of AL I would get a sycrowave 250 because of duty cycle and more power. If not this is the machine you want 175 amps is not enough!! Not even close
