i have a 330 st aircrafter that needs 400 bucks to get it goin enuff to figure out if it can be fixed. i can buy a used mach offa craigs list or from someone sellin off eqpt for 1000-1500 but i dont wanna buy into something that doesnt work.spend the money to fix the aircrafter and know aht i got or get into anohter newer used machine for a bit more cash and unkown..primarily used for small ss and alum work as i have amiller mig already and almost never stick weld anymore..id really like a protable unit..maybe a diesel or gas machine but i dont know which ones are high freq machinegary

Reply:A lot of questions seem to be"Should I spend the money to fix it or not?" Without any indication of what's wrong with it.Did it short out the transformer?Did the leads melt?Does it not turn on & create a spark?Does the frequency control work?In other words, nobody can give advice when the problem is unknown. It's like going to the doctor & say "Am I gonna die?" without letting the doc run any tests or telling him how you're feeling. Reply:well the miller rep said it wasnt worth fixin..dont they always. it was powering on soon as the power sw was hit.as in trying to weld. ive had boards repaired in the past. guess these have bleedover from the high freq. it also sustained some damage when the idiot helpin me hooked the chain and the slack ripped the starter and some of the att wiring off. the service center (not miller) said the wiring had alot of corrosion and most of it needed replaced. so..i scrapped it...now im in search of the replacement on craigs list..so..what would be the best tig only machine avail that would be able to do up to 1/2 high freq welding of alumthanks for the inputs..you cant offend me so its all good..i need to know bout other machines tho as i cant afford a new state of the art mach...seems to be some good idealarc tigs out therethanks gary
Reply:i got the machine back for a 75$ est fee...the one bad board wouldve cost 300 and 100 to install it. then to see if it wouldve werked right....i might try anohter place and see what they say..im gonna look for an idealarc 250 tig or a synchrowave like ya said. sometimes i need to weld some thivk plates of alum or broken gearbox hsgs for thwe farmers round here and i wanna make sure i got enuff power on tap...consumption really isnt an issue as is outputthanksgary |
