Stick electrode brands?

So there is the obvious difference between lincoln excaliburs and radnor. What i want to know is between the normally priced electrodes what brands stand out. I am mostly concerned with 7018 and 6010. That is what i mostly use, but i havent burnt a whole lot of rods yet of different brands, mostly radnor. Reply:I've always had the best results with lincoln excalibur, especially when running 7018.  The beads come out smooth and the slag practically falls off.  I've used hobart a lot as well, doesn't run as nice as Lincoln in my opinion  and is a little harder to chip off.  Those are the only two I've really used.
Reply:If you're using an inverter welder, I've come to the conclusion they like different brands of rod. My Everlast Power Arc 200, and a Longevity Stickweld 250 I ran performed really well with ESAB's 10P-Plus 6010, and ESAB's Atom Arc 7018. The Stickweld 250 also liked Lincoln's Excalibur 7018. My Lincoln V350-Pro runs ESAB's 10P 6010 best, and ESAB's Atom Arc 7018. Reply:I've used 99% Excalibur rods. I I find they strike and burn very nicely, but I have heard of people boasting of better re-strikes with other brands.I used some Esab 7018 also. I found that the arc didn't adjust from corner to corner in a groove like the excal rods do. I found this out on the root pass of my DOT test  I should have practiced with it anyway, my stupidity there.IW Local 580 NY, NY

Reply:Hobart 418 from a sealed tin for my 7018, and Lincoln 5p+ or Hobart Pipemaster for 6010. I hate Excalibur dosent restrike for $hit a.d the flux falls off if you look at it the wrong way, other than that it welds nice. McKay is just fancy Hobart wire.
