Have a new AC/DC Tig on order and should be coming in Oct. So starting to look for a good array of consumables. Mild steel, stainless and aluminum. Looking for any suggestions of what designations of rod and other consumables I should get. Am looking at Welding City on ebay since I remember someone saying they were a good place. Thanks Skeeter

Reply:Thanks for the replys! Has anyone been using the E3 Tungsten? If so, how does it compare to lanthanated?http://www.oki-bering.com/PDFs/BWS%2...%20Webpage.pdfThanks, Skeeter

Reply:No I was talking about the link Oscar sent me that showed rod selection. One was a link to Miller and the other to Lincoln. Tried to search their websites but not seeing the info he referenced. Thanks, Skeeter
Reply:I'm not pro, but I tried an E3 sample from diamond products and it balled and got little fingers similar to Thoriated on AC. The old 2% lanthanated held up much better. Terry, I didn't know that any tungsten held up after dipping on aluminum. I have limited experience with tig, but whenever I've dipped on aluminum with any tungsten, the arc got all orange, broad and weird and didn't change until I used another tungsten. Steel I've gotten away with a few dips with Thoriated.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum |
