I'm not getting gas to my weld. I've checked the system, and the problem is somewhere inside the machine. Air entering the machine at the back end (port of entry) is not coming out the port at the other end (I tested it with compressed air.)What could be the cause, and what is the solution? Thanks all.MillerMatic 252Miller Xtreme 625Miller Digital Elite
Reply:Well, if you checked it by pulling the trigger as well. it probably is either a bad connection somewhere in the circuit from the trigger switch to the gas solenoid or a defective/dirty solenoid.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.

Reply:Edit to add: I've had this machine for a year now, and only 15 - 20 minutes run time as I try to figure this problem out.MillerMatic 252Miller Xtreme 625Miller Digital Elite
Reply:Do yourself a favor and take the machine in for warrantee work. If it has taken a year for you to get this far in figuring out the problem...with a bit of help, you aren't a likely candidate for do-it-yourself repairs. I'm not trying to give you a hard time over this, just trying to help. One non-invasive trick, and I don't know if either your 252 or my own older model 251 has circuitry that would benefit, is to do a hard re-boot on the welder...unplug the unit, let sit, reconnect the electrical and see if it fires the solenoid circuit afterwards. Next step would be to check your connections. After that...take it in before you break something.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.
Reply:quick test is to measure the valve coil voltage while the trigger is pulled. look on the coil for voltage.no voltage means pcb is bad and coil is shorted, have voltage, pull gas hose off and see if gas goes through valve. no gas, valve is bad. have gas you have a plugged gas line, gun in wrong place.Remove gun and see if gas goes out drive. Go luck. If under warranty take it in.

Reply:Hello Daeyel, this is going to be a simple one, so forgive me, but is the gun fully inserted into the power block portion of the feeder unit? If is isn't, the ports on the gun whip won't be lined up and receive gas when the trigger is activated. Also, a matter of semantics, but it is "shielding gas" and not "air". My reason for bringing that up has to do with safety and your health. If you are welding in a confined area the shielding gas is heavier than "air" and can displace it and either give you a nasty headache or worse: kill you.  Good luck and best regards, AllanLast edited by aevald; 03-06-2015 at 03:48 PM.aevald

Reply:Interesting Dave, I must admit however, I sometimes have that "short-memory" thing going on. Hopefully it will be something simple and he can write it down and keep it posted near the machine when he gets it figured out. Best regards, Allanaevald

Reply:Yep, if it's still under warranty let them do the footwork and verify and correct any issues. Regards, Allanaevald
Reply:MinnesotaDave, that was trying to figure out if the problem was my regulator, and the hookup from the tank to the welder. I got that worked out. I'm taking the machine in Monday.MillerMatic 252Miller Xtreme 625Miller Digital Elite
