Would these Timberland Pro boots be good for welding/fabrication and farming/mechanic?http://www.amazon.com/Timberland-PRO...+pull+on+bootsDo you have any other recommendations?I need pull on style, waterproof and safety toe.I dont really want alot of insulation but about 200-300 grams at a maximum.Miller Dialarc 250Miller Bobcat 225Hobart Oxy/FuelCouple of Dewalt and Milwaukee GrindersJET Bandsaw and Drill Press
Reply:those look ok. you want to avoid wearing any footwear where sparks and slag can get trapped or collect. other recommendations; depends on how much you want to go for. you can hit model's and pay 40 bucks or go top shelf with white or wesco and part with your firstborn. mid range would be redwing which is what i been wearing lately.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:I've used those boots.  They seem to last pretty well; but, I'm also pretty careful.  I'd recommend them.  On a closer look, I didn't wear those.  They were same brand and bought from Academy Sports for around $100.Matthew MortonTexas A&M '06Logsdon Seminary '13"Who Dares Wins""AFTF""WH2PH"SA 200 (Code: 5337)TB 302CP 302 w/22A Wire FeederMillerMatic 200Miller Syncrowave 200MillerMatic 252BurnTables 4x4 CNC MachineHypertherm 65
Reply:Not sure if you've ever had pull on boots before but make sure you get them a little smaller than you would a lace up boot. If you get a size that's a good fit new they'll get a little sloppy once they break in. They should be a little too tight until you break them in.
Reply:Those look like really good boots for welding. There's a possibility of slag or sparks sitting at the top of the seam and burning the stitching but the seam is back a ways and may be covered by a pant leg.
Reply:I have put many miles in my redwing slip on in steel toe (also met guards) at the full time place and wear a pair of double h's steel toe when I am not at the full time dollar maker. Over the last ten years I have tried about every slip on out there and found that the right fit in a quality us boot will last a long time just my two pennies worth.Ranger 250 thick stuffHobart Handler 140 not thick stuffthe pane and oxy setup

Reply:I just bought the timberland model that was similar.  They are quite comfortable right out of the box and seem well built---but---even with my narrow feet, the clearance to get your foot in is super-tight making them a bitch to pull on.  Once on, they fit perfectly and sizing is correct but when you've got the belly of a 9-month pregnant woman in the way, getting to that point can be a real PITA.  It'd be impossible to get past the neck with thick socks on.  Just an FYI warning on that issue in case you are also pregnant (or permanently practicing being so like I am)Getting em off aint that fun either..same issue.  Takes LOTS of tension to get your foot around the bend.As someone else said, boots should not be sloppy loose or your feet will pay a horrible price.
Reply:I want red wing pull ons they serve me well. Get about a year or so on them before the mud and cow mud wrecks them.Millermatic 252millermatic 175miller 300 Thunderboltlincoln ranger 250smith torcheslots of bfh'sIf it dont fit get a bigger hammer
