Hey All,This is the last part I need for this 1969 redface sa 200/f163, so I can (hopefully) go out and MAKE some money with it instead of spending money on it.I am a newbie, and this is my first sa 200, so I do not know if the current setup was factory/oem or what, but I need the round plate that the filter actually threads onto, it is bent and leaks pretty good; will post some pictures.Any help at all would be most appreciated!!skip Attached ImagesLast edited by skiprrr; 03-15-2009 at 09:43 PM.Reason: mis-spelling
Reply:I'm going to venture a guess and say it's factory but if you can't straighten it these guys http://www.stumpfweldingsupplies.com/ can help you out.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I am going to try to straighten it, but it is pretty bent, and made out of aluminum, so there exists a distinct possibility that I could turn one filter mount into two smaller ones skip
Reply:Understood.  I figured it was aluminum.  Maybe some heat first?  Dunno, just a thought.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:That is what I thought... set it upside down, apply some heat, and see if gravity wants to give a helping hand!
Reply:Along with the heat it'll probably take a little more than just gravity.  Some gentle persuasion with a clamp or block of wood and hammer might do it.BTW, I saw the same filter base in a photo on Stumpf's website so I'd say it's a factory Continental item.Last edited by duaneb55; 03-16-2009 at 01:04 AM.Reason: added Stumpf commentMM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:Just looked at this thread again and saw the pic of the filter.  You know, like I was looking at it for the very first time. You might think to mount your filter the other way, with the can down.  Makes for less mess when changing the filter. Reply:Back online after a lenghty computer outage. Thank you for all the kind words... fixing her up started with just a new faceplate, but you know how that goesI tried to straighten out the old oil filter plate, but vastly overestimated the amount of heat needed to accomplish that, got it straighter, but not good enough, plus now it sorta looks like something that fell out of a meteor shower.SO I bought this new setup from an online store, which I got today, and it has this dire sounding warning sticker on it that says do not use without some sort of oil restriction orifice in place, as this new adapter (Wix) does not have one. Anyone have any information about this?skipLincoln Sa 200 RedfaceLincoln Invertec 275sLincoln 175HDMiller Maxstar 200 SDVictor Oxy/Acetylene rigEnough leather to make for a couple of cold and pissed off Chinese cowsthree out of four voices in my head agree with everything I sayLast edited by skiprrr; 03-28-2009 at 10:39 PM.
Reply:Check the original fittings for the oil supply line.  One of them may be a 'restriction' fitting.Without a restriction fitting in a by-pass filter application, oil pressure will suffer.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Yes, I already checked the fittings on the filter plate/lines and where it goes into the engine and nothing is jumping out at me as far as looking restricted. What is the oil pressure supposed to be on one of these machines... seems to me I read approximately 24 somewhere, does that sound about right?
