Reply:Before I post the complete build list ie bicycle, motor & misc parts I'll post a few pic's of the stock Worksman Industrial News Boy Cruiser. Then I'll post the modified frame Worksman Industrial News Boy Cruiser, and then I'll post the original 1910-20's Board Track Racer & then the original 1910-20's Road / Street Motorbikes which still had the bicycle pedal's on them. Well thats what they were bicycles with motors fitted on them guess that's why they were originally referred to as Motorbikes. Here's a lil history on the Worksman Industrial News Boy bicycles. The Classic American Bike - since 1898 - with a big difference. These are built "Worksman Tough" for day in, day out use. Thousands of these rugged performers report to work each morning - sometimes after working all night! From shipyards to movie lots, newspaper delivery to the US Postal Service, country club to country store, Worksman Industrial Bicycles keep delivering. Credit the fully lugged frame, "knock-out" industrial front hubs, "posi-quad" welding, and steel 26" clincher rims. These and dozens of other "Worksman Tough" features are what make the "Industrials" the bike of choice among leading companies the world over. Choices are shown for each cycle including Kevlar Belted Air Tires, Worksman Airless Technology Tires (TM), Multi-speed Coaster Brake gearing, Alloy Worksman Clincher Rims (we don't use standard bike rims) and much more. Looking for Heavy Duty Bikes?......Worksman is the real deal in heavy duty bicycles, that happen to be designed, welded, painted and assembled proudly in the USA.To prove that extraordinary toughness need not mean ordinary looks, the Industials carry the classic American profile, set off beautifully by lots of chrome, standard or optional paint choices, and cantilever frames. These are classic industrial grade commercial cycles, unlike any other brand.Worksman Industrial Newsboy - Model INBIndustrial Newsboy Bicycle. The most popular industrial bicycle in North America since 1898. Classically designed with "cantilever" style 18" frame with dual top bars. Fully lugged, hand brazed utilizing 1" 16 gauge frame tubing with 5/8" rear frame stays. The New York based factory workers weld each frame carefully and with great pride, as do their painters and assemblers. They take great pride building each cycle right here in the USA. Features include Exclusive Worksman Clincher Rims, 11 gauge spokes (.120- thickest spokes used on any bicycle) and much more. Shown with optional Baskets. These Bikes are not toys..these are authentic Worksman Industrial Bicycles.Remember, choose Worksman because you want the best industrial bicycles on earth, with components that are more heavy duty than any other bicycles. Same as INB, but frame is taller (20")and top bar design is straight. Fully lugged, hand brazed utilizing 1" 16 gauge frame tubing with 5/8" rear frame stays. Knowing the factory workers in New York weld each frame with such great care is a source of pride for all of us. The Industrial Bikes feature Exclusive Worksman Clincher Rims, 11 gauge spokes (.120) and much more. These are not toys..these are authentic Worksman Industrial Bicycles. Here's a stock Worksman M2600 Industrial Bicycle prior to frame modification, adding the 1910-20's period correct look of a drop looped down tube: Isn't it amazing what you can do with a lil imagination and fortitude, I mean remember those original builder's had almost nothing but primitive tools & resource's, and those bikes had cast head tubes, cast bottom bracket's ( where the pedals are ), and the whole bike frame tubes were basically hand brazed/soldered into those lugged/cast parts! Next post I'll show the stock Worksman M2600 Industrial Bicycle, and then a modified version showing a period correct look drop loop frame, built as a Harley Road style build!I hope some of you enjoy this information and are inspired to build your own version's.Krzndn.
Reply:In this post you'll see the Worksman stock M2600 Industrial Bicycle transformed into a 1910 Tribute Harley Road Bike with the period correct drop loop down tube.I think it resembles the original Harley quite well, except for the 50cc 2-stroke motor.Ok pictured below is an Original Harley 1910 Road Bike:This picture shows the stock Worksman M2600 Industrial Bicycle:Here's the Worksman M2600 Industrial Bicycle with the modified period correct look drop loop frame built as a Tribute Harley Road Bike:I think this is a pretty cool alternative to buying a chinese made scooter, these bikes if built using a 50cc motor are street legal in almost all 50 US states.I'll get round to posting the Build List's after I've posted a lil information about the Stretch Cruiser's which can easily be modified to resemble a modern present day Harley, just add a 50cc motor and you've got yourself an American Made Motor Assisted Bicycle that looks like a real motorcycle! Here's a Disclaimer you can put any Decals/Emblems on your build just be careful, you don't want to take on a big corporation, some take offense to having their names on our things. Except they don't seem to mind much if we buy their stickers and put them on our car's and trucks. Just be careful with using someones copyrighted name on a Motor Assisted Bicycle, I'm not offering legal advice just a heads up ok.Krzndn.

Reply:Awesome build!Ok guy's for it to be classified as a motor assisted bicycle it has to be 50cc's or less and also be human powered by pedaling as well, this would make it street legal in almost all 50 states USA.Peace Krzndn.

One of the old Schwinn bikes i have is a pre war 26" with the rear dropouts like the first few pics of yours. Reply:Those are some great looking "bicycles" and that's a super adaptation for anyone that has always drooled over one of those old vintage type motorcycles. Please continue with the information... How about information about how to setup the peddles and the motor drive system so they don't cause issues.Thanks.

Reply:I've been reading up on these off & on for the last few weeks as time to do so popped up and even found some bikes on youtube. I may just have to build one of these for grins.I was reading an article about a B&E engine .... actually a Honda engine of some sort that had been stripped and machined so it resembled an antique motor of some kind....But something came up about the time I was reading about it and I misplaced the article and can't relocate it. It was very in depth showing how they broke the cooling fins off and then turned the flywheel down smooth. Pretty trick looking engine by the time they finished it.Krzndn (or anyone familiar with this motor) if you happen to know where to locate information on this engine please let me know. I found one of these bikes (on Youtube)powered by one of the old 2 cylinder Maytag washing machine engines that was interesting.I'm not dropping everything is pursuit of one of these, but I'll have the thought in the back of my mind as I run across interesting bits & piecesI don't want a moped since at 240# I doubt it would putt-putt very well ,but if I can find some more powerful means of propulsion than a 49cc 2 cycle motor... Might be a fun toy.I've got a huge 8' chainsaw with an opposed twin cylinder motor (similar to the Maytag twin only bigger) that might be interesting, but it's pretty cool in it's own right as a chainsaw. The variations of "Board Track Racers" is amazing.... They don't look very comfortable to ride for very long, but I've never tried one. I do like their style though. Thanks for posting this in the first place.... I've spent many hours reading & looking into an area I didn't even know existed.... Excellent fun.You can see a version that I had a hand in doing here, http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=45617I am what I am, Deal with it!If necessity is the Mother of Invention, I must be the Father of Desperation!

You can drive it as a 7-speed bicycle, a 7 x 6 speed pedalassist bicycle or as a fully electric driven bike (25 kmh). It was made from scratch bij www.grimmbikes.nl . The carbidlamp is genuine and modernized to led. |
