My son borrowed a Hobart Champion Elite today for a small fence job.Got a question about the amp setting, how do you do it?Amp lever has three positions each having a range.40-110A50-150A80-225AIs it a "smart machine" and sets itself?
Reply:That sounds like the course adjustment. Is there a round knob for fine adjustment? If you're using stick, what rod and diameter? Maybe post a pic of the front."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Thats the course adjustment. 40-110 is for 3/32 rods, 50-150 is for 1/8 and 80 is for 5/32, atleast thats the way it is on my Miller Bobcat 225 (basically the same machine) and the fine adjustment is alittle bit of math work to get the right amperage.Miller Dialarc 250Miller Bobcat 225Hobart Oxy/FuelCouple of Dewalt and Milwaukee GrindersJET Bandsaw and Drill Press
Reply:Maybe this will help. All the writing under the knob refers to using the 110v outlet.Last edited by In Utopia; 03-10-2015 at 08:05 AM.
Reply:The way I figure it on my bobcat is for the 40-110 setting each number on the fine adjustment is 7amps. On the 50-150 the fine would be 10 amps per number80-225a would be approx 14.5So course 40-110 and fine set to 5 would be 75 amps. Brett
Reply:The knob on the right is your fine control.Get to work ! Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024

Reply:Guess we got lucky burning both 1/8" 7018 and 3/32" 6011 without incident.
Reply:Here's the page from the Bob Cat manual that describes the settings. Like was said earlier the Champion and BC are practically the same machine. Settings will be similar. Attached ImagesBobcat settings.pdf (74.4 KB, 68 views)
