The machine has a 9 foot long 6-3 power supply cord.    I assume this means that if I want to use an extension cord, it, too, will need to be of 6 gauge.I also assume this means that the wire from the wall outlet back to the circuit box needs to be 6 gauge?   A relevant question:  the dryer outlet in my house has a 100 amp breaker on that line.   The wire connecting it is 10-2 with a ground.   A friend who has some electrical experience tells me that this is NOT a good idea for the use of this welder.   Lastly, will a 50 amp breaker in the circuit box be enough to run this unit at the 225 amp rating?
Reply:Mine is a 60 amp breaker and it has never popped. They are really 230 amp machines  ya u should use the 6-3 for a extension cord. I have the same machine as you

Reply:Thanks, guys.   I appreciate any help.   As I said, the power cord on the Lincoln is 6 gauge.   We're getting a 6 gauge line put in from the wall outlet to the breaker box (50A on that), and I feel like it's best to go with a 6-3 extension cord.   It looks like it'll be 25' since a made-up 50' footer is hard to find.   (I assume neither 25' nor 50' would involve any line drop…)
Reply:The tig machine comes with a 50 amp receptical so you should be good. Any projects or nice welds yet?
Reply:Nothing for show and tell yet, Moto.   It's been many years since welding class.  Ian, I didn't call the box accurately.   That "100" is for the main bar.   Most of my box is 20's and 30's, with one 40.   I'm in better shape than I thought.
Reply:Well I hope you get the ball rolling! That machine you got is nice! I have layed alot of good beads down with it. Have you used it yet or ever tig welded before?
Reply:Did some Tig in the class I took, years ago.  Haven't used the welder yet.   It arrived with a little ding in it, and I'm talking with the supplier.
Reply:Oh that sucks!
